After a wonderful debut album (IS THIS A COOL WORLD OR WHAT) on Epic/CBS records, multitalented performer Karla DeVito’s second album was over-produced in Los Angeles by people who didn’t quite get her personality. While the production somewhat overpowers her playful good humor, this is still, another KARLA DeVITO album, and it’s well worth having because of her.
I can only hope someone with A&M licenses KARLA DeVITO: WAKE’EM UP IN TOKYO for downloading to Amazon and iTunes (along with her WE ARE NOT ALONE track from The Breakfast Club soundtrack) because I want to have as much of Karla’s talent in my library as possible. The only reason I deduct one star here is that the album’s production does not present this unique performer as well as she deserves to be presented.
