ACCEPT – STALINGRAD 2012

After “Blood of the Nations”, Accept are back with “Stalingrad”, and its stunning title track about the historic Battle of Stalingrad.

German heavy metal legends Accept shattered the perception of being one-hit wonders from the 1980s with 2010’s Blood of the Nations, which earned the band its best reviews in their 34-year career. With the second wind behind their back, Accept reunited with producer Andy Sneap to record their thirteenth album, Stalingrad, due out April 6th on Nuclear Blast Records. To prove to the world that Blood of the Nations was no flash in the pan, the band made the title track available for streaming.

Back to the Front

Three decades into their game, Accept aren’t a band to change their sound too much. “Stalingrad” bursts into life with a melodic guitar lick, before the chugging rhythm and Mark Tornillo tell the story of the horrific Battle of Stalingrad. The verses give way to a clean pre-chorus, where the band forlornly sing the words of the 2 million people who died in the six-month battle: “So hungry, so cold / But there can be no surrender”.
