Legend LYNYRD SKYNYRD will release “Last Of A Dyin’ Breed” the next August 21, the band’s first studio album since 2009’s God & Guns, which debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 20 – the band’s highest chart debut since 1977.
The upcoming CD reunites the band with producer Bob Marlette, who produced God & Guns.
Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), in 2012 Lynyrd Skynyrd have been joined by bass player Johnny Colt, an original member of the Black Crowes who has also played with Train and Rockstar Supernova.
The title track “Last Of A Dyin’ Breed” is the advanced single, and although I read on a couple of Skynyrd’s fan-forums that the song is weak and insipid, in my humble opinion this is as good and rockin’ as any of the great stuff released by the band in their best years.
Rocks!
