NEXT OF KIN – Next Of Kin [pre-release] (2012-13)

NEXT OF KIN is three-piece band from Essex, UK, formed by three brothers; Nathan, Mark & Kieran Bass.
They’ve been working in their debut album for the last two years with AOR guru producer Steve Dorff in the famous NRG Recording Studios, Los Angeles, California.

The list of session musicians is impressive: master Michael Landau (Richard Marx, Steve Perry) on guitars, legendary drummer John JR Robinson (Eric Clapton), and bearded bass / fretless icon Leland Sklar (Crosby, Stills & Nash, S. Lukather) among other luminaries.
Next Of Kin play a mix of smooth modern West Coast with light AOR / Rock&pop spiced with Melodic Rock ala Harem Scarem.
Their style is modern yet classic, based on extremely melodious vocal harmonies, as all the Bass bros. apart from being players are trained lead singers.
The majority of the songs were written by the band, but they also do a great version of the beautiful ballad “A Little Thing Called Life” penned by Steve Dorff, previousy recorded by the immense Warren Wiebe.
There’s as well the track Next Of Kin wrote and performed for the ‘Revenge Of The Fallen’ OST but as many tunes in that movie it wasn’t included in the soundtrack CD.

The album release date is still to be announced, probably at the end of the year or the first months of 2013.
What we have here – exclusively to this site – are most of the tracks to be included in Next Of Kin’s debut. Some are finished cuts, some pre-production takes, and some may not be included in the album.
