Infinity’s Call are a four piece unit from Ulm, Germany. They’ve been around in one guise or another for about ten years releasing their first album, ‘Light In The Dark’, in 2004. This new one, ‘Unconditional’, comes together via the combined forces of vocalist Claus Zeller, guitarist Philipp Zanella, drummer Uwe Hofmaier and bassist Ralf Neumann.
This track again keeps a quality hard rock style at the core but also incorporates some snappy rhythmic work. A bit of a boogie groove and pulsing bassline get Infinity’s Call wandering along a road that leads all around the type of territory that proved popular for rockers experimenting with different styles in the mid nineties.
‘Bitter Taste Of Destiny’ picks the pace back up to more of a speeding metal beat, fast drums pack out the space behind the riffing guitar work to really fill the sound while ‘The Place’ dives back into a refreshing melodic rock pool. It’s easy to see from these first four tracks alone that Infinity’s Call are one of those bands who enjoy playing all styles of rock and metal and they’re not going to let silly genre labels corral their creative tendencies into one bland dimension. They like to explore every avenue before them.
It’s a pattern that continues throughout the album peaking with the wonderful pairing of ‘Unconditional Love’ and ‘Emotional Evolution’ before the Satriani-like spendour of ‘Infinity’ tops off the sonic festivities in memorable style. All of these last three tunes are well worth checking out if you have the chance.
All in all the eleven tracks that make up this album are a fine collection of interesting rock songs. Hard to put under one banner the Infinity’s Call guys seem to have worked hard to create something unique for themselves within their tunes and that makes for a very interesting journey through ‘Unconditional’.
