Truly a tribute to Steve Miller: these songs are polished up brightly to reflect the original’s simplicity and infectiousness! By “juicy”, I think mostly of the B-3 intertwined tastefully throughout. As someone who purchased Steve Millers first album when it came out, this has been a wonderful refreshment and reminder of how well crafted these songs are. All of the performers are well suited to the task and serve it up splendidly.
The only warning I might offer is that there is a lot more keyboard presence (with various sounds and effects) than on the originals–which I happen to like. Outstanding guitar playing is still the focus, though.
