From the Nordic contemplative Oldenburg come SYZZY Roxx, which as GAMBLIN’ CREW were on the road by 2005 and now have their second album under a new banner at the start. And I had not heard the disc thousand times, I would be sure to have inserted a classic from the hairspray era.
The title “Popmetal” fits, you immediately have stylish types with blow-drying and fringe leather jacket and rock chicks in brightly colored leggings, leather skirt and tight Strechtops in mind. Yes, you can play Monopoly in this disc certainly good! Musically SYZZY Roxx seek not so much to the pop currying how many of the 80 heroes who often failed because eh later. This Oldenburg guys write catchy songs though, but with enough bums to stay always hard rock. Permanent one has early Mötley Crüe and Poison in the head, even a little CINDERELLA, KISS or VAN HALEN / DAVID LEE ROTH. With Bläsergetröte rocks is “Mrs. Bigunz” the bedroom, “Gloria” comes with such a catchy chorus, the “right” time would become a hit this song. Likewise, “Arrested!”, Which blossomed into a real headbanger and surprises with great southern rock-like Twin Guitars. And the screamer in the background of “Fear my lovin ‘, well, if not because Uncle Dirkschneider (UDO ACCEPT) has missed in the studio door. Donny Don Marco, however, has the perfect voice for this sound, this often matching backing vocals come. Why in this short disc also added the great “Gloria” must draufpacken again, I do not know. In this unique potential, it should be enough for a whole album !?
That the band was born at the wrong time, wrong place, that it knows itself as the kitsch ballad “Home is where your heart is” sonorous shows. But Oldenburg is somehow also much cooler than LA – and today there rocking a band that had so sure cared in the 80s sensation. For a self-production, there is a great sound in a cool presentation. Only the phone number from the cover model Katja missing.
Who typical sunshine, Party, Chicks & Beauties–sleaze / glam rock of the 80s liked that must definitely listen / at SYZZY Roxx. If in Oldenburg Sunset times a trip to open, then there can only rock SYZZY Roxx and dip their feet first into the stars. Sure, everything is just stolen, but LA is dead – long live Oldenburg! Well done, Dudes!
