[EXCLUSIVE]
When tributes started coming out, I found them very intriguing. Then, when it became obvious that tones of tributes were made because they were easy money, I was frowning to almost every release. However, I must admit that every tribute album bears something interesting, either the song selection or the artists involved or, as in this case, both. Aerosmith is undeniably one of the greatest rock bands on Earth with a long history, so a tribute to them must have quality and passion. I think that Let The Tribute Do The Talking has succeeded in both. So let see who takes part in each song and I bet their remarkable names will do the talking.
Eat The Rich: Jack Russell (Great White) on vocals, Doug Aldrich (Burning Rain / House Of Lords / Lion / Dio / Hurricane / Bad Moon Rising) on guitars, Jeff Pilson (Dokken) on bass, Carmine Appice (King Kobra / Vanilla Fudge / Ozzy Osbourne / Blue Murder) on drums. One of my favorite vocalists surrounded by rock monsters! Amazing!
Let The Music Do The Talking: Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple / Rainbow / Yngwie Malmsteen etc.) on vocals, Al Pitrelli (Savatage / Megadeth) on guitars, Carmine Rojas on bass, Pat Torpey (Mr. Big), on drums. Well, could Turner be out of a project like that?
Round And Round: Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens (Judas Priest) on vocals, Reb Beach (Winger / Dokken) on guitars, Tim Bogert on bass, Eric Singer (Kiss / Alice Cooper) on drums. Heaviness!
Cryin’: Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman / Humanimal / Yngwie Malmsteen) on vocals, Craig Goldy (Dio / Giuffria / Rough Cutt) on guitars, Jason Scheff (Chicago) on bass, Aynsley Dunbar (Journey / Jefferson Starship) on drums. Soto has a gift on making extraordinary every song he covers. Probably the best moment of the CD.
Kings And Queens: Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple / Black Sabbath) on vocals, Steve Lukather (Toto) on guitars, Tony Franklin (Blue Murder / The Firm) on bass, Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot / W.A.S.P.) on drums, Paul Taylor on keyboards. The voice of rock with one of them most brilliant guitarists of this scene.
Rats In The Cellar: Fee Waybill (Tubes) on vocals, Richie Kotzen (Mr. Big) on guitars, James Haslip on bass, Vinny Colaiuta on drums.
One Way Street: Doug Pinnick (King’s X) on vocals, Elliot Easton on guitars, Jimmy Bain (Dio / Rainbow / World War III) on bass, Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth) on drums.
Living On The Edge: John Corabi (Motley Crue / Union / Ratt) on vocals, Stevie Salas on guitars, John Alderete (The Scream) on bass, Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne / Billy Idol) on drums. Grooooooovy!
What It Takes: Bobby Kimball (Toto) on vocals, Waddy Wachtel on guitars, Michael Porcaro on bass, Tony Thompson on drums, Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater / Alice Cooper) on keyboards.
Lord Of The Thighs: Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe / Life Of Agony) on vocals, Bruce Kulick (Kiss) on guitars, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy) on bass, Vinny Appice (Dio / Black Sabbath) on drums. Edgy!
Angel: Robin McAuley (MSG / Grand Prix / Far Corporation) on vocals, Blues Saraceno on guitars, Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne / John Waite) on bass, Rick Marotta on drums. The second best moment of the CD, the sweet / hoarse voice of McAuley fits the song perfectly!
