It’s refreshing to find a release that isn’t afraid to buck the current musical trends and deliver nothing short of pure melodic hard rock. Founded back in 1993, German outfit Châlice have attained quite a bit of success in Europe with the five previous releases (1995’s IN WONDERLAND, 1998’s PERSISTANCE OF TIME, 2000’s DIGITAL BOULEVARD, 2002’s CHAMELEONATION and 2005′ SHOTGUN ALLEY), with their latest release OVERYEARS SENSATION) guaranteed to only further the bands reputation as one of Europe’s brightest modern hard rock acts.
Unlike their last couple of releases, OVERYEARS SENSATION sees Châlice all but remove the subtle progressive elements of their past, and deliver twelve of their most straightforward and heaviest tunes to date. ,,You Better Get Used To It” is a chugging epic opener that sets the tone of the album with just the right balance of heavy guitars, keyboard backing and melodic hooks from Gino Naschke, while the anthem like title track ,,Overyears Sensation” are instant early favourites.
