John Illsley (John Illsley; June 24, 1949, Leicester, England) – English musician, famous as the bass player has achieved the worldwide success of the group Dire Straits. Illsley was one of the founders of Dire Straits and had a significant influence on the formation of their musical style.
By the time the group disbanded in 1995, he was the only original members in addition to the permanent group leader Mark Knopfler. Also recorded six solo albums.
