The term ‘Supergroup’ is thrown around with wild abandon these days, with almost any coming together of artists with the slightest of celebrated histories being bigged up by their respective PR representative. You would, though, be a bit of a simpleton if the ‘S’ word didn’t cross your mind when thinking of The Crunch.
Sulo Karlsson from Diamond Dogs, Terry Chimes from The Clash, Dave Tregunna from Sham 69/Lords of the New Church and Mick Geggus from Cockney Rejects: if the word ‘super’ doesn’t enter your world when these guys are around then you really need to make your excuses and leave. If the only music I had to listen to for the rest of my life consisted solely of the back catalogues of these gents then I certainly wouldn’t die of boredom: envy perhaps, but not boredom.
