MASS – Voices In The Night 1989 / 2018

Mass started out in 1981 in Boston, originally calling themselves Axes. After the name change, they and released a self titled EP in 1984. 1985 saw the release of their first full length album “New Birth”. After the EP “Take You Home” (1988) they signed with the same record company that hosted Stryper and Barren Cross, this was said to be the next big white metal band. Michael Sweet from STRYPER even produced the album, making Mass sound like STRYPER’s “little brothers”. Their brand of melodic metal can also be likened to FIFTH ANGEL and maybe RATT. The band underwent quite a change of sound, going from an unpolished Sunset Strip metal sound, to this more radio-friendly hair metal.
