Fire Action – Fahrenhater 2019 EP

It’s always difficult changing lead vocalists and that is exactly what has happened to Finnish rockers Fire Action as their new EP Fahrenhater features a new singer by the name of Gary J. James, which really seems to have changed the band’s overall sound. Back in September 2016, I reviewed Fire Action‘s three-song EP Rock Brigade and thought that the guys mastered the ’80s sound quite well. Fire Action‘s singer at the time — Leo Barzola — had a grittier and more screaming type of delivery, which kind of shaped the band’s sound.

Strip – Strip 2019

Glam? Yep, the boys fit the mold of many of their favorite bands of the “Hair Band” era, yet with each band member bringing their own influences to the songs you couldn’t say they sounded like any one particular band. Jay’s melodic lead vocals, Gary and Joel’s twin guitar attack, Timmy’s full-on bass assault, and Mikey’s hard-hitting thunder from behind the kit gave STRIP their own sound.

Harmonic? Yep, a big key to the STRIP sound were the catchy harmonies the band prided themselves on. Never one to take the easy way out, every band practice was time to work on the intertwining vocals to give each song a bigger sound. From ballads like “Love Story” and “Forget Your Love” to rockers “Lullabye” and “It Doesn’t Matter” , the harmonies played as big a part as a

White Flame – Yesterday’s News (2007)

White Flame’s “Yesterday’s News” isn’t breaking any new musical ground, but if you are a fan of the 80’s era of hard rock, you are bound to love this. This is a hard rock record that needs to be heard by all!

On a side note, not only is the CD good, but the ultra cool digipak comes with a booklet that folds out into a mini news paper with song lyrics, photos and more. I thought this was a nice touch, especially from a new band…
