DVD9/Hughes interrupted his tour with Black Sabbath due to personal and creative problems (due to drug use, his voice sat down).
In 1987 he sang three tracks for the Phenomena II record, again worked with Threll, but the records were not published. As a backing vocalist, he recorded for Whitesnake (1989), in 1991 he experimented with Jeff Downs in the studio, and in 1992 collaborated with guitarist / vocalist Peter Norum.
