On November 6th Fates Warning will release their new album Long Day Good Night via Metal Blade Records. The new single “Scars” offers a first taste of the album. Fates Warning have been a constant authority on progressive metal for over 35 years. The band has had a significant influence on the style and has developed it further without compromising its integrity or losing its significance.
Now, in 2020, they present the most extensive, longest album of their eventful career in the form of Long Day Good Night. “Stylistically, the music we’ve written for it is different from the rest of our repertoire,” explains vocalist Ray Alder. “Some songs contain electronic elements, others feel pleasantly weightless, and some groove relatively straightforward even by our standards, not to mention several rather hard numbers. We have tried to keep the variety as wide as possible so that people don’t get the impression that they are listening to one and the same song all the time”. In this respect, the album resembles a metaphorical rollercoaster ride, as the mood is constantly changing, and is probably the group’s most varied work to date.
