British heavy rock band EXCALIBUR who emerged on the coat tails of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) in the ’80s, got their 1985 cult debut 6-track mini album “The Bitter End” reissued through No Remorse Records.
The newly remastered version contains a selection of bonus material including the band’s 1984 ‘Back before Dawn’ demo, and the previously unheard original EXCALIBUR own mix of ‘The Bitter End’.

Henning Pauly – Credit Where Credit Is Due (2005)

German born Henning Pauly seems to be somewhat of a workaholic, being involved in at least a couple of releases yearly since his band “Chain” signed for Progrock Records in 2003. This release is a mostly improvised affair being recorded in the middle of other projects, where Pauly plays around with the metal genre. What enfolds are playful experiments, at times hilarious lyrics, and an overall feel of musicians fooling around and having a good time in the studio; and in spite of that (or maybe because of that) managing to produce a very good release. This is not music for everybody though, the main rule for this release seems to be that rules are made to be broken. But if experiments within the metal genre sounds like a good thing to you, this one should be checked out.
