– Formed in 1984 Flight 19 in Sheffield, UK by Nigel Ward (bass) and Gary Flounders (keyboards, guitar), FLIGHT 19 were supported and encouraged from the start by globally popular rock DJ Neal Kay, the main protagonist of the groundbreaking New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (Iron Maiden, Praying Mantis & more bands worked with him). Continue cds from LOST UK JEWELS Vol. 24 under title Something we did (1985 – 1992).

– Having a professional rehearsal and recording studio in London, FLIGHT 19 took the opportunity and created numerous perfectly formed AOR songs in the vein of Rio, Strangeways, Dare and Yaya. With two brilliant singers on board like Mark Thompson Smith and Noel Fraser (Strutz, A.O.K.), the band recorded and demoed 12 incredible melodic rock songs in 1989-1992.

– Their only official appearance was on the “Metal For Muthas ’92” compilation in Japan, with two songs (“Liar” and “Flame”), which caused a lot of interest from the likes of Polygram and Atlantic, but unfortunately nothing came after that more.

– This release includes all 12 tracks written by the band, taken from the original DAT master tapes and completely re-mastered, plus the customary 16-page booklet filled with lots of unseen photos and memorabilia, and the full band history written by ‘AOR Masters ” Rob Evans was written. This is another unmissable chapter in the history of UK melodic rock.
