This career-spanning documentary of heavy metal legend Ronnie James Dio chronicles his incredible rise from doo-wop performer in the 50s, his early classic rock in Rainbow Ritchie Blackmore, the replacement of iconic vocalist Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and finally his DIO legend. Ronnie’s biography is completely different from the hackneyed clichés about sex, drugs and rock and roll. The film is about perseverance, dreams and the power of believing in yourself.

Following the release of the album the band embarked on a lengthy tour. The European leg opened with a triumphant one-off show at the ancient Roman theatre of Philippopolis with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra in September 2012.

This incredible show was documented by acclaimed filmmaker Lasse Hoile (Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Dream Theater), the stunning results of which will be released as Universal.

In 2005, for two months, Ronnie James Dio gave an unprecedented tour in its content. As part of the concerts, the first and most famous album of the DIO group – “Holy Diver” from 1983, was performed from the first to the last song. The material for the Blu-ray edition was the last concert of the UK tour, which took place on October 22, 2005 in the London Astoria.
