“The music of his teenage years reignited Eagle-Eye Cherry’s energy as he sat down to write his sixth studio album Back on Track, due for release on January 21, 2023.
In those past few years, when the whole world felt lost, Eagle-Eye Cherry began to question his profession, saw healthcare workers struggling with something really important, and wondered what his own role was, but at the same time he missed it to share the live experience of music with other people and came to the conclusion that what he is doing actually matters. Hence the title of his sixth studio album: Back on Track. Many of the songs were recorded just prior to the escalation of the pandemic, but as the process was delayed more songs came to life When Eagle-Eye spent most of his time at home and had time to hone his cooking skills, he started making the again Listening to music he loved as a teenager and started buying his own records: Talking Heads (his family’s Long Island neighbors in the 1980s), Blondie, The Clash, Modern Lovers. The influences may not be obvious, but there was something about the energy that Eagle-Eye found incredibly inspiring. This resulted in 12 songs on the vinyl version of Back on Track and 13 songs on CD and digital. Most of the album tracks were recorded at Atlantis Studio, some at Peter Kvint’s studio and one at Strawberry Studios in Töreboda. Eagle-Eye collaborated on songwriting with Peter Kvint, Anders Pettersson, David Lindgren Zacharias and Joel Sjöö, and a song Eagle-Eye wrote with Cameron McVey in 2007 was brought back to life thanks to British singer/songwriter Will Varley.
