Patriarch, a Kansas band popular in the 1980s. Once courted by RCA and Atlantic Records, the band never received a contract and eventually disbanded. However, band members were brought back together in 2014 when they were selected by Google to promote high-speed fiber-optic internet in Kansas City, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The band began to take shape in 1981, when Gregg and Chuck were music majors at the University of Kansas and heard each other playing in the rehearsal hall. One thing led to another, and they decided to form a band. Gregg had played with a drummer, Steve, who was also going to KU. They put out feelers for a second guitarist. I heard about it, and after the initial rehearsal, I got the job. Jeff, also a student at KU, came on board as the bass player. Now the pieces were all in place. Patriarch was born in 1982, and we wrote and performed throughout the Midwest until 1987.
Patriarch has had the same lineup since 1982
Chuck Huels — keyboards and vocals;
Steve Kuker — drums and vocals;
Jeff Carroll — bass and vocals;
Gregg Anderson — guitar, violin and vocals ;
Mike Maxwell —guitar and vocals.
