Originally released during the golden age of US Melodic Rock / AOR in 1984, the self-titled debut LP from curiously named Oakland based band BILLY SATELLITE may not have set the charts on fire – despite of having two moderate singles with both music videos aired on MTV – but did manage to register high on the AOR Richter scale.

This is the stupendous Remastered & Reloaded version by Rock Candy Records.

Led by the supremely talented Monty Byrom (who went on to form successful band Big House later) and featuring super hot guitarist Danny Chauncey (later to join .38 Special) the band enjoyed a moment in the spotlight when tracks such as ‘Satisfy Me’

This album is on target to be my AOTY for 2023. Rototoms and reverb are two key ingredients here, and the attention to detail with panning doesn’t go unnoticed. Devil’s Dungeon really does it for me with the middle section which features some great, moody acoustic guitar and tom build up. All in all, this album really connects with me!

Now we have here in exclusive the fresh CD reissue of MAGNUM awesome 1990 album “Goodnight L.A.” made by really good Dutch label Music On CD. This company has been doing a great work lately making available again on disc hard to find melodic hard rock albums / bands. As usual, Music On CD reissues are not freshly remastered, they just use the best masters available.

However, the sound quality of this modern digital transfer results into a much better, ‘fat’ sounding CD, far superior than the original CD pressings. And considering “Goodnight L.A.” never has been remastered, this Music On CD release is the best sounding you can get.
