Reaching the heights of number 14 in the UK album chart ‘The Thrill of It All’ is the fourth studio album from British hard rockers THUNDER. This Expanded Edition Digipak features key tracks ‘Living for Today’, ‘Love Worth Dying For’ and ‘Pilot Of My Dreams’ as well as previously unreleased bonus live versions of selected hits from the album.
“The Thrill Of It All (2023 Expanded Edition)” is a really welcomed reissue to rediscover this solid Thunder album, now with extra material.
In 1996 and this fourth album, two details were evident: first, that Thunder was never going to become the next Whitesnake or Def Leppard (not that they’d want to, by that stage) and, second, despite the grunge domination they decided to remain faithful to their roots.
There’s fun rockers in “Welcome to the Party” and “Cosmetic Punk”, a memorable tune such as first single “Pilot of My Dreams” with its Eastern-flavored solo, the great ballad “Love Worth Dying For” with its ‘Ten Years Gone’-styled opening guitar figure, and “Something About You,” with its Boston-isms.
Classic Rock galore, in other words, served with immaculate production sound and meticulous songcraft which helped make ”The Thrill of It All” a huge smash in Japan.
