KROKUS founding member guitarist / songwriter Fernando Von Arb has licensed to SingSong Music the band’s album “Stampede” to be 2024 reissued. 1990’s ”Stampede” marked the Swiss band return home from years recording and touring in the US.
This is a ‘different Krokus’ album as Von Arb is the only original member – after lead singer Marc Storace left the band, he decided to do something fresh and recruited first-time Krokus members Manny Maurer (guitars), Tony Castell (guitars), Peter Haas (drums), and singer Peter Tanner (ex-Bloody Six, Witchcraft).
Von Arb recalls: “It was a chance to do something new, liberated from the insistent demands of US management and labels to perform as they saw fit, always chasing the next hit single. Recording it was sheer pleasure, pure fun with younger musicians, and it stands up well still today.”
”Stampede” isn’t exactly a real Krokus recording, but the production, writing, and performances are as good as anything released by Krokus since ‘Headhunter’.
And it’s is one of the finest discs with the group’s name printed on the cover.
