Limited Warranty was one of the many groups that exploded out of the 1980’s Minneapolis music scene. The core members were Dale Goulett (vocals, guitar), Greg Sotebeer (vocals, bass), Erik Newman (guitar), Jerry Brunskil (drums, vocals) and Paul Hartwig (keys). Newman or Brunskill penned most of the tunes.
Things took off for LW when they won Star Search in 1985. They used their winnings to beef up the production of their live show and to record a two song EP with Psychedelic Furs drummer Vince Ely.
The band’s good fortune continued in 1986 as they won an unprecedented 11 Minnesota Music Awards including Best Band and Best Recording for “This Is Serious”. They followed up by signing with legendary manager Bill Graham of San
Formed in 1982 Hawk was a glam Metal band that really made some noise in the sunset strip. A well known guitarist by the name of Doug Marks was part of this great band and the only member to be part of in every lineup of the band after few changes. Hawk originally featured Charles Morrill (Charlie Wayne Morrill) on vocals, Doug Marks on guitar, Lonny Miller on bass and drummer Scott Travis (now in Judas Priest). Widespread Panic has been together over three decades. Formed by vocalist/guitarist John Bell, bassist Dave Schools and late lead guitarist Michael Houser in the mid-1980s while the three attended the University of Georgia, over the next several years band’s lineup expanded to include drummer Todd Nance, percussionist Domingo Ortiz, and keyboardist John Hermann. The current lineup now includes lead guitarist Jimmy Herring and drummer Duane Trucks.
