A couple days ago we featured in at 0dayrox the first two COMPANY OF WOLVES albums, and some of you asked for more from this very good band. While COMPANY OF WOLVES, as happened with classic hard rock bands, stopped to record during the obscure Nineties however the group never disbanded.
After COMPANY OF WOLVES went on hiatus in 1992, the band continued operating while all members were active in the music business – vocalist Kyf Brewer involved into other projects and producing, and guitarist Steve Conte playing & singing on film soundtracks, videogames and recording for Peter Wolf, Suzi Quatro, Billy Squier, and others (Conte is current Michael Monroe’s guitarist).
At the beginning of 2000’s and with the incipient resurgence of classic rock n’ roll, COMPANY OF WOLVES started to work on a new album. The result is ”Steryl Spycase” released 2001 by themselves via Kyf Brewer’s own record label.
Despite of being self-released, ”Steryl Spycase” has a major label quality – produced, engineered & mixed by Gary Lyons (Aerosmith, Foreigner) – and musically faithful to COMPANY OF WOLVES bluesy classic rock overtones. Initial copies sold-out, so recently Ryf Records did a second batch of CD’s in 2020, professionally manufactured silver-pressed.
”Steryl Spycase” is a 9-song CD but whatever this album lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in the sheer quality of the tracks. There is not one weak song on here. From the upbeat number “Rocks In Your Head” through to the excellent feel good “Rhythm & Booze”, this album will not disappoint fans of the self-titled debut and American timeless rock ‘n roll aficionados.
To make it more complete, we added as extra the standalone single COMPANY OF WOLVES released a few years ago.
