As requested here’s a rarity from the impressive ’80s Canadian melodic rock scene. IN AND OUT formed halfway the decade in Ottawa by lead singer Steve Gardiner and keyboard player Marc Lalonde. Influenced by the European new wave rock&pop sensibility and the U.S. bite of radio rock, IN AND OUT mixed both resulting into an interesting musical blend.
After some demos the band was ready to record their first songs, produced Frank Levin and professionally released by a little indie record label. The album is entitled “Emotional Politics” – IN AND OUT showcase all over these songs a wonderful refinement and good taste for elaborated melodies.
With rocking moments and some sharp guitar work on a few tracks, “Emotional Politics” for the most part is definetly AOR, that type of Canadian incredible crystal clear sound. IN AND OUT creates as well very good atmospheres, bringing to mind some movie soundtracks from the era.
There isn’t a bad song here, so if you’re into the Canadian sound from the glorious decade you need to hear this CD. Now rare, and a collector’s item.
Highly Recommended
