As part of the great ”The Lost UK Jewels” series unearthing lost bands which deserved better luck or at least, exposure, here’s “The Lost UK Jewels Vol. 26: FAHRENHEIT UK – Feel The Heat“, limited to 500 units.
There were / are many bands with the same name, this FAHRENHEIT hails from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England. The group released an EP and a full album in the Nineties, however “Feel The Heat” compiles all FAHRENHEIT UK recordings between 1986-1990, their more melodic rock / AOR era.
FAHRENHEIT have made no secret of their influences when it came to writing their material, and Steve Overland’s FM has always been their main influence. Winners of Metal Hammer’s “Find A Band Competition” and proud owners of a “Friday Rock Show” session, FAHRENHEIT have taken the grim out of Grimsby and replaced it with a huge chunk of sun-drenched AOR hewn from the smoothest rock.
With interest from Warner Bros Records, support slots with Saxon, Vow Wow and Magnum, this is the usual story of missed opportunities and failed promises.
Musically think FM, Heartland, Strangeways and Tobruk, to name but a few British peers from the ’80s.
This CD collection contains all their recordings / demos between ’86 and ’90 and presents a bunch of great British-style AOR songs that all lovers of the genre should not miss.
