The Black Rain – Water Shape (2014)

1111Black Rain has its roots in Italy, Bologna. The band was formed in 2002 and many years later, in 2010, it took flesh and bones with its final line-up. Each of Black Rain member put heart and soul to this band and in 2011 they decided that the time has come to compose material for a debut release.

“Night Tales” was recorded between September 2011 and February 2012 and was published by Street Symphonies Records in November 2012. After a bunch of gigs around Italy and a small tour in France to promote the album, the band entered the recording studio again, to work on the new album “Water Shape”, and signed a deal with Atomic Stuff Records.

As the water has no shape, Black Rain refuses to take labels in their music. There are many classic rock elements and can be heard in tunes such as “Mesmerize”, “Times Of Trouble” and the amazing and, my personal favorite, “Robert Johnson”. There are, also, some harder edged tracks with a nice groove like the up-tempo tune of “Shadows” and “(S)He’s So Amazing” which is another highlight from the new album. Other interesting moments here are the ‘darker’ with a haunting melody “King Of Stones”, the totally 70’s “Brand New Shoes” and the awesome “Flamenco Dancer” that features a killer solo.

All in all, THE BACK RAIN with its brand new album achieves to create a very interesting and solid release all the way. A tight musicianship, very good performances, a bunch of some killer tracks and an overall good production are the ingredients of “Water Shape”. Check it out!
