This specialy titled CD is a compilation of songs Gary wrote in the 1980?s and early 90?s for a dream band he was to call PALISADE. The band existed at Berklee in 3 versions. The earliest incarnation was Gary on guitar, Paul Huesman (voc), Ernie LaRouche (dr) and Tim Nickerson (bs). A bunch of recordings with this lineup exist. Then Paul moved to Los Angeles, then the band got Mike Ciano to sing. Tim left school, Ernie graduated and moved on and Gary & Paul remained in contact. PALISADE version 3 was Gary, Steve Leslie (voc), Chuck Marchant (bs) and Kenny Smith (dr). A couple recordings exists, one video of the show at Club III, and one concert from the Berklee Cafe was video taped.
This was an amazing surprise! Gary has been well known for his work with harder-edged rock since the release of his mid-90?s “Sentimetal” album. He’s always been a brilliant musician, but “Palisade: Lost In Paradise” is truly special. This work has a resonance like it’s 1985 all over again! If I didn’t know better, I’d guess that this was straight from that era…a lost gem that someone unearthed. Yet instead, this is actually Gary’s work from 2006. If you remember that chill that Journey sent up your spine or the feelings of eternal youth that sprung forth when you first spun Shooting Star’s “Silent Scream” album, then you absolutely must have this CD! Simply stunning AOR music!
