Southern Rock
The intensity of singer/songwriter Robbie Walden is evident in everything he does, including the recording of his latest album “Robbie Walden Band”, a collection of originals blending Texas Red Dirt and Spaghetti Western with his native Pacific Northwest Rock and Country sounds. With influences such as Randy Rogers Band, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Gary Allen, Walden’s music pleasantly surprises listeners with his distinctive, unexpected vocals and poetic, vintage outlaw songwriting that expresses his inner strength, dedication, witty sense of humor, and personal heartbreak.
Walden went on to excel in sports, competing in Strongman and Olympic weightlifting, setting both national and world records. He also proudly served his country for four years in the United States Army until he was injured in combat in Iraq and was medically discharged. Following his service, Walden returned to professional sports with his brothers Bristol and Jesse, while on the side developing his songwriting craft and performing acoustically at local venues. His music came to the forefront of his life as the result of the devastating loss of his brother Jesse, who died of a massive heart attack during a strength training session. “After that I no longer wanted to train anymore,” says Walden. Instead, he immersed himself in his music, one of the few things he found comfort in during his time of grief.
Walden admits to wearing his heart on his sleeve, and does so especially through his lyrics which capture the highs and lows of his life along with his personal beliefs and morals. The first single “Kiss Me Again” from “Robbie Walden Band” is just one cut off an album of songs all recorded live as a full band, the way recording was done prior to the days of dubbing. “That’s what makes this entire EP so unique,” says Walden. “My band and I choose to record live in order to capture the energy we share when performing on stage.” That’s a lot of energy since Walden and his band are used to performing up to 150 dates per year! Listeners can tap into that energy by downloading the first single at www.robbiewalden.com, www.Itunes.com as well as other musical sites.
