After their respective previous bands had disbanded in 1989 bassist and guitarist Thomas Claus Vonberg Tefke met in the spring to a joint session. They were joined by guitarist and keyboardist Harald Möllges. Thomas’ old friend Roland Busch helped out on drums. Inspired by Hard’n’Heavy known bands of the late 70s and early 80s, Claus and Thomas were stylistically immediately agreed: Classic, rifforientierter Heavy Metal, with room for melodic vocals and a driving rhythm section.
When in the early summer of 1989 was dissolved the Düsseldorf hard rock band singer Achim Stallion Thomas Hopf win for the band. Both had already played in the past in the heavy-Sentinel band together. The line-up was completed by the experienced drummer Alvar Siefert. The band name resulted from the common preference for the same film and the soundtrack of the band Queen. At the time there was no other band of the same name, it was decided nevertheless to alienate the name to Hyghlander to go potential copyright disputes in the future from demWeg. After live shows with considerable public feedback, the band recorded their first demo in 1990 in Düsseldorf Joswig studio on. After the 5-track demo the band parted by keyboardist Harald, as she saw her musical career in pure rifforientierten guitar sound. In 1991 he recorded a live session in the studio Joswig from another 6-track demo came out. Due to the first interest from record companies followed 1992, another recorded live recording as a preparation for a possible album album. However, the band had to be separated in the same year for personal reasons.
