Dean Ween, aka Mickey Melchiondo, is one half of the duo behind US band Ween, who split in 2012 and then returned in 2015 with live shows and a live album. This is the second album by the Dean Ween Group, who consist basically of the Ween live band – keyboardist Glenn McClelland, bassist Dave Dreiwitz and drummer Claude Coleman Jr. – plus they are joined by various guests including Electric Six.
Like Ween this is a very varied musical mix, taking in rock ‘n’ roll on opener ‘Showstopper’ with its nifty drumming, via funk meets Hawkwind on ‘Waste Station 9′. The Ween song ‘Don’t Let The Moon Catch You Crying’ is revamped coming across like a classic piece of 70′s West coast music – this song would have been all over US radio back in the day.
