Engel Mayr – Sacred Cow (2018)

naked blues rock meets Viennese humor. No wonder Angel Mayr (guitarist, producer and songwriter with RUSSKAJA or HALLUCINATION COMPANY, among others) is behind it, recording the album “Sacred Cow” with his music colleagues Werner Laher and Mario Stübler in the classical formation of drums, bass, guitar and voice Has. A title that makes you think of a band from India, or at least comes from the alpine regions of Tyrol or Salzburg, where the cows inspire this name. But no, they come from the city and with the “holy cow” is meant something else. Sound wise, they settle for the rock rather than the blues, especially the rock of the 60s / 70s, because you hear a lot of JIMMY HENDRIX, or LENNY KRAVITZ. Another orientation is the blues rock from the Texas area (the noise-bearded guys) or the Mississippi blues atmosphere.
