EDDIE MONEY – The Covers (2023) 2 CD EP

Some time ago EDDIE MONEY recorded eight cover songs that now are being compiled and will be released on CD and vinyl, titled “The Covers“. Among Money’s cover selections are the Beatles classics ‘Ticket To Ride’ and ‘She Came in Through The Bathroom Window’, as well as rocking variations of songs originally popularized by AC/DC (‘It’s a Long Way to the Top [If You Want to Rock and Roll]’), The Doors (Roadhouse Blues), The Four Tops, Green Day, The Spencer Davis Group, and Train.
As you see, it’s an eclectic selection of vintage classic with contemporary songs, all done in a ‘traditional Eddie Money style’.

Eddie Money adds a lot of New York City soul to ‘She Came in Through the Bathroom Window’ Beatles classic tune in a spectacular version. Eddie and his band stretch out on this one adding a lot of funk and groove in the mix. Some rhythmic horns and some short snazzy solos add to the good time feeling. A great one.
Money’s cover of other Beatles classic ‘Ticket To Ride’ just made sense if you think about it – he was a confessed fan. His take on ‘It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock and Roll) is on fire, and there’s a big groove on ‘Gimme Some Lovin’ (The Spencer Davis Group original).
The Doors ‘Roadhouse Blues’ showcases other loved Eddie band, done with passion.

The songs on “The Covers” are a lot of fun to listen. There is a rawness in these recordings that is very much captivating. A certain sense of wildness meets early Rolling Stones.
Eddie Money sadly passed away in 2019, but his music will remain with us forever.
Highly Recommended
