A few weeks ago we featured for the first time on CD the one and only album by RIGGS, their self-titled 1982 record, a very good slice of early Eighties American melodic rock.
Fronted by vocalist / guitarist Jerry Riggs (later Pat Travers Band co-lead guitarist / songwriter for many years) RIGGS recorded 2 songs for the iconic 1981 animated feature film Heavy Metal, also included on the movie’s soundtrack release. That lead for the band to secure a record deal with their album released next year.
But previously RIGGS was being courted by major producers and record labels, and they recorded a series of professional demos.
Here we have “Unreleased Sessions 1980-82 “, all the songs RIGGS recorded between 1980-1982, with most the tracks produced by Jeff Glixman (Gary Moore, Kansas) and others by Eddie Offord (Rory Gallagher, YES). So expect very good A+ sound quality.
Additionally, none of these 13 songs were part of RIGGS debut album > all remain unreleased.
This is catchy American melodic rock with radio appeal, FM-ready polished tunes with occasional AOR touches – feel-good rock n’ roll with melody and hooks.
