Bad Attitude: Right From The Start 2024/2014 Fna Records

L.A.’s Bad Attitude, just one of the many bands with this moniker, may very well be the best of them all. But don’t take our word for it.

Listen to the samples and find some of their tracks on youtube and you will hear the unequitable diversity of the tracks and the quality recordings that were missing from so many of their counterparts. From the scream and shout rockers Love ‘em and Leave’em and Action to the what would’ve been a big MTV ballad What About You Girl.

Another mainstay of the Los Angeles/Sunset Strip and eventually another casualty to the impending Seattle sound, Bad Attitudes story was not far off from that of many an other band. They built up their reputation playing all the big clubs in Hollywood, gaining legions of fans and eventually a regular draw. This led to the coveted opening gigs for bands like Warrant, Poison, Hurricane and countless others. In turn, this all led to the interest from the major labels and showcase after showcase. All too often management would make bad decisions or an A&R Rep would move on, and it just didn’t happen for them. Many bands experienced this main trajectory thus many capable and qualified bands went by the wayside.

Bad Attitude was formed by lead singer/guitarist Brian Curtis in Hollywood, CA in 1988. The original lineup included: Brian Curtis – Lead Vocals/Guitar Lonny Mead – Lead Guitar/Vocals Frank Reiche – Bass Guitar/Vocals Ian Flanders – Drums/Vocals. After a few years of playing the Los Angeles music scene, Frank and Ian decided to pursue other interests. Brian and Lonny had no intentions of doing anything else but to continue with Bad Attitude, so after weeks of auditions they met drummer Brian Lockerman and bassist Alyx Galan.

Brian and the guys worked really hard and were gaining great respect for their music and live show. This was known as the “The Hollywood Era”. But this era was short-lived as bands were being required to Pay To Play and/or sell tickets to their own shows…even if they could bring a large audience. The band officially ended their run in 1993.
