Roadway – The EP 2012

ROADWAY_RTEPmmm/with  Doogie White

ROADWAY, initially started as a side-project for guitarist Ross McEwen has quickly become the main project for all involved. With their debut EP currently achieving sales in 14 countries, radio play in Europe, North America, Australia and Japan, several Scottish tours completed and a new record in the plans for an early 2013 release, ROADWAY are proving their worth among the new hard rock acts of today.
Taking their sound from a mix of classic rock giants of the 70s and 80s like Deep Purple and Rainbow and blending that with newer influences such as Black Stone Cherry, Down and Burn Halo, ROADWAY provide a high energy, loud and energetic performance showcasing an honest, hard working band which values strong musicianship and a simple tasty riff over anything else!

“Roadway have both the musical talent and the stage presence that enable a rock band to play live shows that excite and entertain. With the individual talents that make up the band and the song writing abilities they have shown they should go a long way”.
– Gordon Johnston, Glasswerk.co.uk

The band debuted live and on record on the 6th of May 2011 with their debut release simply titled “ROADWAY” (commonly referred to as “The EP”). The disc features 5 original tracks compiling modern hard rock, with 70s style eerie rock ballads and simple, groove lead rock and roll attitude.

The band’s wall of sound comprises of the twin guitar efforts of Ross McEwen and Bod Elder, a tighter than ever rhythm section of Iain Macleod and Ryan McEwen all provide the perfect backing for the clean, smooth, powerful and yet menacing vocals of Dougie Greig and the keyboard/piano talents of Frazer Mustard.

The EP features guest performances from former “Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow” vocalist, and current singer for “Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock” Doogie White, and ex-Ozzy Osbourne/Spinal Tap/Uriah Heep keyboard player John Sinclair.

“Honestly, the CD hasn’t left my player in the truck since the first listen, a very unique band & disc. I especially like the contrast between the simple raw power and complex progressive elements”
– Ron Keel (KEEL)

“(The CD) sounds pretty good!!!!” –Harry James (Thunder, Magnum)

“it’s F**Kin awesome!!” – Phil Martini (ex-The Quireboys/Joe Elliots Down N Outz)

Nice Tones and Strong Songs!!” – Brian Reudy (Whitesnake)

With several Scottish tours completed successfully since their debut, which has included support slots with Furyon (Frontiers Records) and Heaven’s Basement (Red Bull Records) the band continue to press on taking their unique and stage-shaking show to as many places as possible.

A huge set back and tragic event to happen to the band occurred on the 16th of May 2012 when guitarists Ross McEwen, and Bod Elder were involved in a very serious car crash in the Highlands of Scotland while returning home from a band writing session in Glasgow. The crash put both men in hospital for over a month each and both required very serious emergency operations. Thankfully both survived but sustained injuries which will take a long time to recover.  The band received an amazing amount of support from all around the world, from members of classic rock greats such as Thin Lizzy, former members of Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Bad Company, Deep Purple, Rainbow and many more. This accident has delayed the band entering the studio to work on their 2nd release but rest assured as soon as the guys are able they’ll be in there creating another disc of harder, heavier, louder, and rockier songs.
