Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a new clamshell boxed set featuring all four of Curved Air’s classic albums recorded between 1970 and 1973. “The Albums” features newly remastered versions of “Air Conditioning”, “Second Album”, “Phantasmagoria” and “Air Cut”, along with bonus tracks ‘It Happened Today’ (single version), ‘What Happens When You Blow Yourself Up’ and ‘Sarah’s Concern’, all originally issued as singles.

Fancy – The Complete Recordings, 3CD Clamshell Box Set 2021, Cherry Red Records
In 1973, Fancy came together around producer Mike Hurst – alongside guitarist Ray Fenwick and bassist Mo Foster – to record a glam rock cover version of The Troggs’ hit ‘Wild Thing’. Issued on Atlantic, the single was a U.S. hit, peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 (it also reached #31 in Australia). Prompted by the success, a touring band was assembled with new singer Annie Kavanagh. And an album, Wild Thing, yielded a second American hit, ‘Touch Me’.
• In summer 1974, Fancy signed to Arista, and embarked on a U.S. tour, supporting Kiss, Wishbone Ash and Steppenwolf (in early 1975, they also supported 10cc at the Hammersmith Odeon). Having established Dinosaur Jr as a mainstay of, and influence over, the alternative scene by the mid-1990s, J Mascis began to venture out alone, performing acoustic sets of his band’s material, alongside occasional cover versions. ‘Fed Up And Feeling Strange’ captures three shows recorded across the decade, shedding a fascinating, low wattage light on J and his songs.
‘Live At CBGB’ captures J’s first solo show, performed at the legendary New York club in December 1993, whilst ‘Martin + Me’, which now includes a previously unreleased bonus track, was recorded during a 1995 tour of the USA. Never released on CD! If you don’t know Twenty Twenty, you’ll want to read this in it’s entirety because this band just might be the biggest hidden gem of the 80’s rock era. Why? Because Twenty Twenty was a surprisingly flashy band, loaded with sure-fire commercial-based sound and a blend of art-rock anthems similar to that of STYX or KANSAS with a dose of straight ahead rock similar to THE CARS, WHITEHEART or even GIANT.
The band mixed an interesting blend of pomp AOR with cool new wave melodies, all wrapped by a very Eighties arsenal of keyboards, synthesizers, synclavier and electronic drums. This Synth-AOR stadium rock band from the 80’s would have been incredible to see opening up for Steve Taylor or Daniel
