It is typified by a heavy use of aggressive vocals, distorted electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, and often accompanied with pianos and keyboards.

Obsession (1983) featuring Brynn Arhens (Flipp, worked with Ritchie Ranno and Art Alexakis) and Jeff Loven (“Heavy Metal Polka”) great mpls Metal from the early 80’s The Minneapolis-based band Obsession garnered a huge regional following in the early – mid 1980s.

They were the very first group to win a Minnesota Music Award for Best Heavy Metal Band.
