“Some Kind of Monster” is a documentary about Metallica. The title of the film was taken from the song of the same name from the St. Anger. What started out as a run-of-the-mill documentary about the making of St. Anger, has evolved into a much deeper exploration of the relationships between the band members and their creative process. The film shows many studio rehearsals and fragments of concert performances. The film won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary Project.
