Album-oriented rock (abbreviated AOR) is an American FM radio format focusing on album tracks by rock artists. AOR evolved from progressive rock radio in the mid-1970s, using research and formal programming to create an album rock format with greater commercial appeal.

This album captures the essence of a David Johansen show in the early 80’s. It contains a bluesy/soulful reworking of the NY Dolls classics, and the ultimate version of “We gotta get out of this place” which was a staple of the AOR radios stations in the early 80’s.

JAY GRAYDON, a super guitarist and producer, released an album released in 1991 by AOR unit PLANET3 by CLIF MAGNESS and GLEN BALLARD. Graydon has been uniting with David Foster for airplay, participating in Steely Dan’s Aya (Aja), and providing songs for Earth Wind & Fire, and in 1995, Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill. Revolving around the guitar-playing and songwriting abilities of Dennis Cameron, this Canadian Christian rock band issued three albums in the late 80s and early 90s. Angelica was a late 80’s early 90’s Christian Hard Rock/Metal AOR band that was the brainchild of guitarist Dennis Cameron and with a very 80s commercial hard rock sound, less like Sunset Strip metal and more like the heavier side of Pop metal / AOR. Think 707, Shout, Tamplin, Prophet, Strangeways, Alien, Unruly Child, Stryper, Crystavox, Joshua, Mr. Big, Frehley’s Comet or Sammy Hagar.
