Encouraged by Billy Joel’s former manager Irwin Mazur, in 1980 McMahon decided to promote his own recording career. He assembled a group of accomplished musicians – Gary Mallaber, John Massaro, Kenny Lewis and two of the musicians he had engaged for Gerard, guitarist Steve Sykes and keyboard player Al Campbell – collectively called Kid Lightning, returned to the studio and recorded the album Blue Rue.
This was the third album release by Gerard McMahon. Previously he had released two albums in 1976 fronting the band Gerard.
After the album was completed, McMahon’s band was dropped from Columbia Records.
Gerard McMahon also has released an album as “Gerard McMann” and since 2000 he mostly uses the name “G Tom Mac” for his releases. McMahon is sometimes also ref

René Shades (Pretty Maids) – Teenage Heart Attacks & Rock’n’Roll Heaven 2019
Rene Shades, bassist of the Danish hardrock band Pretty Maids, released his first own album titled Teenage Heart Attacks & Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven this summer.
After a break, he is back since 2011 part of the five Scandinavian rockers. Of course, through these contacts, he has no problems getting help from longtime colleagues and friends. He still arrives at it properly anyway. In addition to the vocals, he also contributes sounds to guitar, bass, banjo and the keyboard. Technically, there is a mainstream-heavy mix on the ears that penetrates into pop regions and otherwise records everything you want to hear in melodic rock, rock ‘n’ roll and country.

Beyond Imagination – Beyond Imagination 2019
Now 5 years later, you give out their first full-length, which is surprisingly good. Among Beyond Imagination’s influences one can find Toto, Jay Graydon and Chicago to name a few examples.
A little funny is that you have managed to bring in the legendary guitarist Jay Graydon on one of the album’s tracks. The plate offers classic west coast / AOR where the songs “Traces Of Laughter”, “In Can´t Find Enough Reasons”, “Driving Along The Coast”, “I Want To Be Loved” and “Courage Of Love” belong to the real goodies . The band is made up of very competent musicians but I still have to give out an extra plus to the singer Viktor Johansson who delivers

Donnie Iris – Fortune 410 (1983) (West German press, vinyl-rip) mp3+flac
Fortune 410 was the fourth release by Donnie Iris And The Cruisers. The title of the album is a reference to the trademark glasses Iris wears, Fortune 410’s. On the UK and Scandinavia releases of the album the tracks are in a different order than all other releases.
Despite Fortune 410 charting higher than The High and the Mighty, MCA was displeased that both albums didn’t chart as high as Back on the Streets and King Cool had. The label suggested that the band allow them to bring in a new producer, displacing Mark Avsec, as well bring in new songwriters. Iris and the Cruisers, wanting to keep as much of their creative freedom and sound as they could, said no. As a result, MCA dropped the band in 1984.
