In 1969, Eric Burdon’s producer Jerry Goldstein discovered a band called Nightshift and suggested the possibility of collaborating with former The Animals vocalist Eric Burdon. The latter was just looking for a new musical direction for himself together with the Danish harmonist Lee Oskar. After the Nightshift concert, Burdon took control of the band, replacing the two buglers with Oscar and giving them the provocative new name War.
