
The Dutch group “Bintangs” in their homeland has a cult status on a par with “Golden Earring”. The group was founded back in 1959 by the brothers Frank and Arti Kraaijeveld (in the English transcription of Kraayeveld).
Having changed the name several times, in 1961 they settled on “Bintangs”, this year is considered officially the year of the band’s founding. In 1970 the Kraaijeveld brothers left the Bintangs to form a new band, Kraayeveld. Lead vocalist Gus Pleines remained in charge of the group, but in 1972 he also joined “Kraayeveld”. Eventually Arti Kraayeveld decided to start a solo career, and Frank Kraayeveld and Gus Pleines reform Bintangs.
