3pm at New York’s Roseland Ballroom June 23-25, 2010 kicked off a series of performances in support of Phil Collins’ first full length studio album in eight years, Going Back. The entire album is made up of cover versions of 1960s Motown classics, a style that Collins returned to repeatedly throughout his solo career. A cover version of “You Can’t Hurry Love” topped the UK charts in 1982.

As Collins has said repeatedly throughout 2010, Going Back ends his solo career.

Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay & CoRox y Music guitarist Phil Manzanera mused in a 2003 interview about being “considered old dogs that were about to be shot and put out of their misery” before the band embarked on this 2001 tour, their first in some 18 years. He needn’t have worried.
