This concert from July 8th, 1991 was the last of Miles Davis many appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival and took place only a few months before his death. Despite a defiant never look back philosophy, Miles was persuaded by Quincy Jones and Claude Nobs to take part in this tribute to his great friend Gil Evans, who had passed away in 1988. This truly unique concert was an historical event and a musical triumph, thankfully captured here for posterity. Miles Davis was a giant of 20th century music and this concert is as much a tribute to him as it is to the late Gil Evans.

Taped for VH1 / MTV this is a great pro shot performance. Recorded on November 14th in Orlando, Florida. The classic hits from Bat 1 and Bat 2 are performed here and Meat Loaf is GREAT! It was aired on TV in two blocks. That’s why you see credits running through Rock and Roll Dreams.
I did my best to rearrange the videos into one concert. Changed the order as they were shown on TV to make the set closer to the rest of the concert tour and edited out all the commercial breaks. All in all this has resulted in one of my favorite TV concerts of Meat Loaf. Because both Picture quality and sound quality could have been slightly better I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

For many Heart lovers, the crown jewels would be the 10 songs performed live around February or March 1976 on the KWSU “The Second Ending.” The DVD of this show is a bit of a full-circle experience. The film has more of the philosophical undertones of “Life according to Lemmy”, which is groped only with difficulty.
