On May 30, 1990, Midnight Oil interrupted its North American tour for a “special guerilla action” on the crowded Avenue of the Americas in midtown Manhattan. The agit prop event was a live concert from the back of a flat-bed truck and drew a crowd of more than 10,000 people out of the nearby buildings and onto the street.

Just in time for Sepultura’s 30th birthday, the recording of the memorable performance was released in 2014. The powerful Sepultura sound mixes surprisingly well with the 16-person percussion collective, which provides acoustic and optical highlights with its oil barrels.

The cameras perfectly capture the atmosphere of the cult festival with a sea of people, colors and an elaborately illuminated stage. And just as all the optical components merge, the Sepultura sound mixes with the barrel hammers without any problems. In addition to Sepultura songs, the giant duo plays some Tambours du Bronx songs, such as “Delirium” and “Requiem” as well as the Prodigy hit “Firestarter”.
