SCARLET FOXY – SCARLET FOXY 2013

600x600 (1)

now/Black Sabbath Deftones Guns N’ Roses

Scarlet Foxy combines the flashy guitar and hook-laden style of ‘80s and classic hard rock, with the power and strangeness of modern alternative music.

Each song is a unique blend of influences of the band’s members, ranging from classic pop, to hard rock, and alternative metal. The album opener, “King Reign Supreme”, signals the apocalypse with crushing metal riffs, and throat gargling screams that seamlessly transcend into a bass solo supported by ethereal synth beats. “Show me a good time” is an egocentric crusade for sex, where sleazy guitar riffs segue into a solo that soars above the steady rock beat. Midway through the album, the audience is treated with a calming tune called, “Where Would I be?” a vocal duet that explodes into a rock anthem about the importance of loved ones. “Knives” is a song that begins as a modern rock homage, with dropped down, chainsaw like guitars smoothed by a catchy melody, before it begins its decent to hell with a psychedelic jam. Each song on the album is peppered with incredibly powerful and passionate drumming, which is sure to excite with each fill. The guitars are schizophrenic, blistering powerful riffs one moment, then become soft serenades.
