Wolvespirit plays good old fashioned and down to the bone grinding rock. Loaded with heavy guitars, big drums, a bass that will make your pants flatter around your knees, and – of course – a swirling Hammond organ, Wolvespirit takes you back to the psychedelic ´60s and the heavy rollin’ ´70s, if not into another dimension. And the icing on the cake is provided by the raw female vocals which at times remind of Janis Joplin, and at others of Stevie Nicks.

The Barbaric-Romantic power metal band Virgin Steele re-issues their eleventh studio album VISIONS OF EDEN. The music from this album first appeared on the Theatrical Stage in what was already the third ´Metal-Opera` delivered by David DeFeis to the Landestheatre Scwaben of Memmingen Germany, the first being Klytaimnestra Oder Der Fluch Der Atriden (based on the two Virgin Steele albums THE HOUSE OF ATREUS – ACT I & ACHT II). An aura of mystique surrounds Black Sites. The band is a super group of sorts, featuring some of Chicago’s finest players from the underground metal scene. The band features former cult thrash band Trials-members Mark Sugar (vocals/guitar) and Ryan Bruchert (guitar), plus John Picillo from Without Waves and Immortal Birds on bass, and Chris Avgerin, formerly of Autonomy and Lost Dog, on drums.

Damn this is one tough album that practically came out of nowhere. Original Sin were interestingly enough, composed only of female members! And one of the better groups in that case. Virgin Steele’s David DeFeis was also around giving a helping hand with the incredible production and some songwriting.
