Come Taste The Band is the tenth studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, originally released in October 1975. It was co-produced and engineered by the band and longtime associate Martin Birch. It is the only Deep Purple studio record featuring Tommy Bolin, who replaced Ritchie Blackmore on guitar and is also the final of three albums to feature Glenn Hughes on bass and David Coverdale on lead vocals, before Coverdale later left to form Whitesnake.

In 1992 the YARDBIRDS were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and JIM McCARTY, the bands drummer, has experienced fame and fortune since the band split back in 1968 with firstly RENAISSANCE, SHOOT, ILLUSION, BOX OF FROGS and STAIRWAY.

Having recorded solo albums in the 90’s, Jim decided in 2000 to form RENAISSANCE ILLUSION with his former band mates JANE RELF, LOUIS CENNAMO and JOHN HAWKEN, who had all been in the bands Renaissance and Illusion with him, to record a new album.

ROBIN GEORGE’s first major release was “The History” 12inch EP in 1983. The single “Go Down Fighting” did really well. He and his band were gigging and were about to become the new TRAPEZE when DAVE HOLLAND had an offer he could not refuse and he joined JUDAS PRIEST. The label decided not to pick up its option on the album and the masters have sat in the vaults until recently when Robin remastered them for the digital age.

MALCOLM DOME back in 83 had heard the early album demos which had been recorded between 1979 and 1981 and he jumped at the opportunity to write the sleeve notes for this 2014 release.

On the track “Showdown” PHIL LYNOTT plays bass. Robin George has had a distinguished career over the past three decades, working with a succession of major names. “H
